KIMberly CONNERTON
Kim's ongoing series of installations and public art titled, Pre-Life, consists of interior installations and public art projects. Pre-Life models, structures and environments invite audiences to experience art, pleasure, joy and community with ease. The Pre-Life series cultivates environments for people to enjoy and value transformative moments within a communal and urban context. Pre-Life, often uses gold mylar to highlight the value and magic in fleeting moments that happen in peoples lives. Similarly, gold-leaf has been used historically to define value in other worldly and beautiful spaces, in the canon of western art history. The Pre-Life series immerses people in bright, shimmering, gold worlds as a reminder that this space may exist inside of them. Transparency, lightness and freedom are key ideas in the Pre-Life spatial project.
