" Claude Cahun The, "dreamlike...and fleeting reflections...", Cahun speaks to, in Kim's photographic and video installations, happened when she performed as Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol. For her, Ono and Warhol's, art and music had a significant and freeing effect. In YokoPeace (the space between us) and Warhol Reincarnated, she performed as both artists' to integrate their influence and inspiration, express the fleeting nature of identity, and acknowledge the unique power art and creative practices have in a person's life. Many of the photographs are blurred or two photographs are shown next each (Kim as Ono and Kim as herself for example) to illuminate how relationships (artistic and spatial/environmental) reflect ourselves. In Paris/Sydney geographic location and architectural thresholds, such as windows - open and reveal the Self in light. |
